The main money behind the Tesla CoalÃ? Mining Company which which built the historic “company town” and mines ofÃ? Tesla was from John Treadwell who had made millions in gold mining in Canada.Ã?  John’s brother,Ã? James, lived in Oakland for a time with hisÃ? familyÃ? in the VictorianÃ? which is now the administrative office of the College of Arts on Broadway.

The State Off Highway Motor Vehicle (OHMV) Division of the State Parks Department has launched their General Plan and EIR update process for Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) and expansion into the pristine Tesla Park land we are trying to save. The state OHMV Division has contracted with AECOM to complete the General Plan update and EIR ( http://www.aecom.com/about). The OHMV Division is going to move the process ahead as fast as possible given CEQA.

The OHMV Division has established a web site at www.carnegiegeneralplan.com.  Sign up for the mailing list to receive updates throughout the planning process.  We will also notify you of critical deadlines and requests for action by email and on our web site at www.teslpark.org.
